Boys’ XC, Machette Qualify for State Finals

The Stockbridge boys’ cross country team saw its streak of four straight regional titles come to an end last week, but the Panthers are still on their way to the Division 3 State Finals at MIS Saturday with a second place finish.

The Panthers finished second at the D-3 Regional at Uncle Johns Cider Mill in St. Johns, behind number one ranked Lansing Catholic Central. It will be the 5th straight appearance at the Finals.

Taylor Machette will join the boys’ team at the state finals after finishing 10th in the girls’ race with a time of 20:00.

Alan Baird led the Panthers with a 3rd place finish in 16:40, followed by Jake Chapman in 4th in 16:49.

Jack Youngblood finished 9th in 17:11 and Nick Snider 14th in 17:24. The top four Panther runners earned All-Region honors.

Kyle Lilley finished 31st in 18:07, Maison Beauregard 44th in 18:42, and Zack Snyder 51st in 18:51.

For the girls’ Julia Olson finished 28th in 21:15 and McKenzie Carpenter 48th in 22:45. Shawnacee Dillay was 89th in 25:24, Makala Wayne 93rd in 26:26, and Emily Baird 94th in 26:33.
