Chelsea baseball dream season come to an end at the hands of a strong Stevensville Lakeshore squad Friday as the Bulldogs fell 7-1 in the Division 2 State Semifinals.
Cal Barrett gave the Bulldogs the lead in the first inning as he hit an opposite field home run to right for a 1-0 lead.
Chelsea picked up a apir of singles in the third, but a strikeout and ground out ended the threat.
The Lakeshore offense would come to life in the bottom of the third as they would score four times in the inning to take a 4-1 lead heading into the fourth.
Chelsea’s bats were quiet in the fourth and fifth and Lakeshore added two more runs to make it 6-1 heading to the sixth.
The Bulldogs put two runners on in the sixth, but the Lakeshore pitcher snagged a shot up the middle on what could have been a base hit for the second out and a ground out ended the threat.
Lakeshore added one more in the 6th and the Bulldogs went in order in the seventh to end the game.
The high powered Chelsea offense collected just five hits in the game, with Jack Bush, Thomas Steele (2), Al Vasquez, and Barrett getting the hits.
