The Dexter boys’ soccer team battled to a 3-3 tie with a surprising Ypsilanti soccer team last week.
The Grizzlies historically have been near the bottom of the SEC White but came into the game undefeated in the conference.
Dexter jumped out quickly and looked to roll over the Grizzlies by taking a 3-1 lead at the half.
Cole Harreld, with a pair of goals and Riley Cryulnik with one, gave the Dreads the halftime lead.
Ypsilanti did not give up and battled back in the second half and for the first time this season the Dreadnaught defense gave up more than one goal.
Things got a little chippy in the final minutes as three red cards were handed out, two for Ypsilanti and one for Dexter.
The Dreads remained undefeated on the season after taking down Adrian 5-0 Thursday, September 7.
Cole Harreld scored two more goals, while Jaylen Bonilla, Daniel Higgins, and Ryan Sanders each scored one. Max Harreld earned the shutout in net for Dexter.
The Dreads improved to 9-0-1 overall on the season by shutting out Ann Arbor Pioneer 2-0 September 9.
Bonilla and Higgins scored the goals for Dexter, while Max Harreld earned his eighth shutout of the season in net.
