The Dexter football team used a quick start to take a lead into halftime, but it would not hold as the Dreadnaughts saw their losing streak reach 35 games after falling to South Lyon East 42-13 Friday, September 8.

The Dreadnaughts reversed a fumble on the opening kickoff and wasted no time as Joe Luallen busted across from a yard out for a 6-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.

The lead would stay that way until the second when Evan Chappell intercepted a pass and returned it to the SLE eight yard line.

Three plays later, Luallen again busted across from a yard out to give Dexter a 13-0 lead and things were looking up for the Dreads.

East got back into it with a 25 yard scoring pass late in the first half to cut the lead to 13-7 at the break.

Dexter got a big kickoff return to midfield to start the second half, but it was called back for a block in the back and it all went downhill from there for the Dreadnaughts.

The Dreads punted and SLE scored on just three plays later to take a 14-13 lead.

After another Dexter punt, the Cougars broke free for a 53 yard touchdown run and just like that, it was South Lyon East leading 21-13.

The fourth quarter was all East as the Cougars would score three more rushing touchdowns to pull away and keep the Dreadnaughts winless.

The Dreads were outgained 443-165 in the game, including 371-70 on the ground.

Luallen led the team with 40 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns. Luke Coogan was 10-21 passing for 95 yards. Nick Fileccia caught five passes for 28 yards, while Andy Durand caught three passes for 29 yards.

Chappell led the defense with five solo tackles, three assists, and an interception.
