Three candidates are running for three open seats on Saline City Council, all of whom are incumbents: Linda Teritaar, Heidi McClelland,and Jack Ceo.
Residents within the Saline Area Schools district will be asked whether to support a sinking fund millage proposal permitting the board of education to levy an amount not to exceed 0.35 mill for a period of 10 years, 2018 to 2027. The tax would fund the purchase of real estate for sites for, and the construction or repair of, school buildings, for school security improvements, and for the acquisition or upgrading of technology.
Residents within the Saline Area Schools district will also be asked whether to support a millage proposal to provide funds for operating a system of public recreation programs and playgrounds. If yes, the board of education would be authorized to levy an amount not to exceed 0.50 mill for a period of 10 years, 2018 to 2027.
Residents within the Washtenaw Intermediate School District will be asked whether to support a special education renewal proposal allowing the district to continue levying a special education millage previously approved by electors. If yes, this renewal of the .9719 millage that expires in 2017 would continue for a period of 8 years, 2018 to 2025, to provide funds for the education of students with a disability
Residents served by the Chelsea Area Fire Authority will be asked whether to support a new additional millage in an amount not to exceed 2.4 mills for a period of five years, 2019 to 2023, for the purpose of providing funds for the operating and equipping of the Chelsea Area Fire Authority.
Residents of Sharon Township will be asked whether to support a renewal millage for fire protection and emergency medical services within Sharon Township. If yes, the township will be permitted to levy a renewal millage of .4994 mills for a period of five years, 2018 through 2022.
