A young Saline Hornets girls’ basketball team used a huge fourth quarter rally to defeat Belleville 51-43 December 1.
They are starting 2017 with a new head coach and a new starting five and will take some time to adjust.
They were coming off a season opening loss to Chelsea and again started slow against Belleville.
The game was tied at 15 at the half, and Belleville used a fast start to the second half to take a 20-23 lead.
The Hornets settled down and used a 5-1 run to end the third to cut the deficit to 31-28 after three.
The offense came to life in the fourth, exploding for 25 points and putting the game away at the free throw line in the final minute for a come from behind 51-43 win.
Nicole Sweetland led the Hornets with 17 points, including 11 in the deciding fourth quarter.
Ella Stemmer finished with 12 points and Brooke Bauer 10. Asia Lindsey added five points, Kelsey Alexander four, and Erin Reilly three.
