It was a cold December evening, but it didn’t stop folks from lining up along Michigan Avenue in downtown Saline Dec. 3 for some holiday cheer.
Dressed in their winter garb, the crowd gathered for the 41st Annual Saline Christmas Parade – “A Saline Christmas Carol,” presented by the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce. As people continued to fill the four corners about 5:30 pm, the parade made its way down Michigan Avenue, between Davenport and Lewis Streets.
The Saline Youth Council was at the head of the parade, leading more than 1,400 participants, floats and special vehicles, including bands, twirlers and dancers. Saline Mayor Pro-Tem David Rhoads served as the parade grand marshal.
Santa made an appearance at the end of the parade, ushered in by a horse and carriage. Mayor Brian Marl then presented Santa with the key to the city. After the parade, children visited with Santa and Mrs. Claus in the Merchants Square Building on Michigan Avenue.
