A new year, but the same heartbreaking results for the Saline Volleyball team as the Hornets dropped a hard fought five set match to rival Bedford in districts.

Just like in 2016 Saline battled with the Mules to the end, but once again fell short in the fifth set and Bedford would go on to win the district title.

Bedford took the opening set in relatively easy fashion 25-16, but the Hornets fought back to take the next two sets 25-20 and 25-23 to take a 2-1 lead.

The Mules bounced back to take the fourth set 25-20 to force a deciding fifth set, which they took 15-10 to end the Hornets season.

Olivia Vance was a force with 18 kills, while Madison Whitfield added 13. Both led the team in blocks with seven each.

Emily Finkbeiner led the team in digs with 24, while Mickaley Monahan had 14 and Haley Blaney 12. Brianna Woods led the offense by dishing out 46 assists.

The Hornets finished the season with a record of 32-13-1.
