Stockbridge Baseball Sweeps Perry

The Stockbridge baseball team picked up a big doubleheader sweep of Perry 15-4 and 5-4 May 11.

The Panthers pounded out 16 hits in the opener and a nine run 5th inning blew open the game.

Kolby Canfield had a huge game, smashing a home run and finishing with three hits, five RBI, and three runs scored. Elijah Huebner had two hits, a RBI, and three runs scored, while Hunter Puhr had two hits and two runs scored. Trevor Cadieux added two hits and a RBI. Huebner earned the win on the mound, striking out eight.

The Panthers rallied from 2 down to take a 5-2 lead and then held off a seventh inning rally to hold off Perry for the 5-4 win.

Perry had plated two runs to cut the lead to 5-4 and had the bases loaded with no one out. Justin Schray got a pair of strikeouts and the final out of the game was made when Canfield tagged a runner out at the plate that tried to score on a passed ball.

Matt Bellestri and Gage Place each had two hits and a RBI. Huebner had two hits and a run scored, while Canfield and Puhr each had a hit and run scored. Bellestri picked up the win on the mound, striking out one, while Schray earned the save.

Stockbridge dropped a pair of league games to Olivet 4-3 and 9-3 May 17.

The Panthers tried to rally from a 4-1 deficit, but could not plate the tying run.

Jake Sutton had a hit and two RBI and Bellestri and a hit and one RBI. Cadieux, Ballagh, and Place each added one hit.

The Panthers fell behind 6-0 after two inning and could not overcome the early hole.

Logan Palmer had two hits and two runs scored, while Schray had a hit and two RBI. Place added two hits, Bellestri a hit and run scored, Ballagh and Canfield a hit each.

Stockbridge dropped a 7-3 decision to Corunna May 18.

Canfield had a hit and two runs scored, while Bellestri had two hits. Puhr added a hit and RBI, while Huebner and Cadieux each had a hit.
