At age 95, died Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Brookdale Senior Living in Ann Arbor. She was born January 10, 1925 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Frederick and Daisy (Edwards) Altenbernt.
Katherine worked at Dapco in Dexter, Ulrich’s Bookstore in Ann Arbor, the IGA in Dexter, and she also cleaned houses. She was a member of the Dexter Seniors and was part of several card game groups with the Chelsea Seniors. Katherine enjoyed sewing and gardening; and drove a lot as she liked to travel and go camping with her family.
Katherine is survived by two sons, Dale (Wendy) Purdy of Pinckney, Rick Purdy of Mancelona; one daughter, Gayle (Gary) Mosher of Dexter; one sister, Gloria Altenbernt; five grandchildren, Jason (Melisa) Mosher, Daryl (Anne) Mosher, Lisa (Ryan) Fuqua, Justin Dentel and Jacob Dentel; 11 great-grandchildren, Alexandria (Colton) Fodor, Taylor Mosher, Cheyenne Mosher, Makayla Miller, Brody Miller, Gracin Miller, Kara Steinaway, Haile Steinaway, Alex Steinaway, Kevin Rinderknecht, and Chloe Fuqua; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Charles Purdy; three brothers, Nelson Altenbernt, Noble Altenbernt, Elmer Altenbernt; and four sisters, Beatrice Barth, Delma Dempsey, Daisy Raje, Florence Miller.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn in Dexter, Michigan.
Arrangements were entrusted to Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea.
