In partnership with Lodi Township, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office has opened a new community station.
Located at Lodi Township Hall, at 3755 Pleasant Lake Road, the community station officially opened this past week.
The WCSO announced the opening on Facebook.
“A Shared Commitment. A big thank you to Supervisor Jan Godek, Clerk Christina Smith, Treasurer Michelle Foley, and the entire Lodi Township Board of Trustees. This wouldn’t be possible without your unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe!”
Lodi Township contracts with the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office for police services. The Sun Times News connected with Lodi Clerk Smith to ask about the new station.
“Having the office at the Township Hall reduces the time our deputies spent coming from the Manchester station into the township,” Smith said.
Lodi did not have a station for its deputies to work out of; they have been stationed in Manchester for years.
“By providing them an office in Lodi this reduces their travel time to and from Lodi,” Smith said.
Lodi contracts three deputies for the township, so by having this station in the township it puts more police presence in Lodi Township.
Smith said deputies will be available at the township when possible, and there also is a Blue Box Phone located on the front of the building that calls 911 directly in case of an emergency, which is helpful if you are without a cell phone.
“We look forward to continuing our relationship with the sheriff’s office for many years,” Smith said. “Not only will Lodi deputies be using this office, it will be available for any deputy to use when necessary.”
WCSO also has community stations for Dexter/Dexter Township, Manchester, Salem Township, Scio Township, Superior Township, Webster Township, York Township and Ypsilanti Township.
