The Alber family expanded the orchard over the decades, planting a variety of apple trees, including traditional and heirloom varieties still grown today. The orchard gained renown for its cider production, employing a historic cider press that contributed to its reputation.

Throughout the 20th century, Alber Orchard saw several generational changes within the Alber family. Each new generation contributed to the orchard’s growth and modernization while steadfastly adhering to traditional farming practices. This unwavering commitment to tradition and community involvement transformed Alber Orchard into a local landmark, hosting events, participating in local markets, and becoming a beloved destination for families and apple enthusiasts.

In 1999, Michael and Therese Bossory acquired Alber Orchard. They focused on preserving the orchard’s historical aspects, maintaining the historic cider press, and other traditional elements. The orchard embraced modern sustainable farming practices, including organic farming methods and integrated pest management, balancing its rich heritage with contemporary agricultural techniques.

Today, Alber Orchard is more than just a place for apple picking. It offers a diverse range of family-friendly activities, such as hayrides, pumpkin picking, and educational tours that delve into the intricacies of apple farming and cider production. The orchard has evolved into a symbol of local heritage in Manchester, drawing visitors from the region and beyond. Alber Orchard and Cider Mill cultivate a variety of traditional and heirloom apples, meticulously selected and blended to create a cider that leaves a lasting impression.
