Area Bowlers Compete at State Finals





The MHSAA bowling state tournament was held March 1 and 2nd and the area was represented by 10 bowlers in three divisions.

Three Chelsea bowlers competed at the Division 2 State Finals in Waterford Saturday and had some strong games but did not move past the qualifying round.

Corrine Dale led the Bulldogs with a 28th place finish in the girls’ finals. She finished with a six-game total of 1079, good for a 179 average. She had high games of 223, 217, and 182.

Brittney Stephenson finished 36th with a six-game score of 1071 for a 178 average. Her high scores were 222, 217, and 179.

Luis Carvallo finished 37th in the boys’ finals with a total of 1079. He averaged 179 for the tournament. He had scores of 217, 186, and 182.

The Manchester boys’ team competed in the team event at the D4 finals in Battle Creek and just missed qualifying for the top eight team match play event.

The Dutch finished ninth overall with the top eight moving on to the next round. Manchester finished with a team score of 2933, just nine pins out of eighth place.

Three members of the team competed in the singles event Saturday.

Bobby Stemen finished 32nd. He had a six-game total of 1009 for an average of 168. He had high scores of 191, 180, and 180.

Eli Lobbestael finished 43rd with a six-game series of 956 for a 159 average. He had high games of 196, 188, and 159.

Jake Hansen places 45th. He averaged 154 with a series of 923. His high scores were 177, 167, 157.

The Manchester girls’ team had two competing.

Alyvia Hock finished 32nd with a series of 895 and 149 average. Her high scores were 165, 164, and 155.

Jordan Rhodes finished 55th with a 752 series and 125 average. High games were 145, 132, and 129.Saline had two qualifiers compete in the D1 Finals at Allen Park.

Dallas Casey finished 12th and qualified for the top 16 match-play event. He qualified with a six-game total of 1222 for an average of 203. His high games were 257, 210, 206. He struggled in match play falling in the first round 450-297.

Cameron White finished 53rd for the Hornets. He averaged 168 with a series of 1009. His high games were 198, 175, 167.
