Area teams will compete close by when it comes to this week with Saline and Chelsea hosting baseball districts.
Division 1 (At Saline)
Dexter (24-8) will open district play Tuesday when the Dreads take on Huron (8-28-1). The Dreadnaughts swept a three-game series from the River Rats and the winner will take on Ann Arbor Skyline (13-20) Saturday morning at 10:00. Dexter also swept a three-game series during the season.
Saline (31-6) opens play against Ann Arbor Pioneer (23-12) at 12:30. The Hornets took the three-game series from Pioneer during the regular season, but two of the game were decided by two runs or less.
If Dexter gets by Huron and Skyline, the Dreadnaughts lost two of three to both Pioneer and Saline during the regular season.
Prediction- Saline over Dexter
Division 2 (At Chelsea)
Chelsea (17-13-1) got a break by drawing winless Ypsilanti (0-19) in the opener at 12:30 Saturday.
The other side of the bracket features Pinckney (18-13-2) and Father Gabriel Richard (12-23).
Chelsea and Pinckney are similar teams with the Bulldogs taking two of three games from the Pirates, with all three games being decided in the final at bat.
Prediction- Chelsea over Pinckney in another game decided in the final inning
