Synopsis of Action of the Dexter Township Board of Trustees

Regular Board Meeting April 17, 2018

Called to order at 7:00 PM

Members Present: Supervisor Rider, Clerk Ceo, Treasurer Brushaber, Trustees Compton, Drolett, Gajewski and Mesko.

Also Present: Zachary Michels, Director of Planning and Zoning

Supervisor’s Remarks: Acknowledged members of the Chelsea and Dexter Senior Centers and thanked them for the services they provide to our community.

Call to the Public:  Dale Lesser, Steve Oberholtzer, Jim Poulter, Michelle Stamboulellis, Kathy Badbury, Laura Sanders, residents of Dexter Township spoke in favor of placing a millage on the November for purchase of development rights.  John Taylor, resident of Dexter Township, against the millage for purchasing development rights.

Oral Reports: Roy Townsend, Washtenaw County Road Commission Managing Director, updated the Board of Trustees on 2018 recommended road projects in Dexter Township.  Trustee Compton gave an update on the Broadband committee initiatives.

The Board took the following action: Approved the Agenda for April, 2018 Board meeting, moving 9A Ordinance Officer Position and 8A Washtenaw County Road Commission Report ahead of the Consent agenda and moving 7C MERS/OASDI clarification from Consent Agenda to 10G New Business; Approved the minutes from the March 20, 2018 Budget Hearing, the minutes from the March 20, 2018 Regular Board meeting and the minutes from the April 11, 2018 Special Board meeting; Approved the Consent Agenda for Hudson Mills Fireworks display permit, North Lake Fireworks display permit, and Intern recommendation process; Approved Township Hall projects to include waterproofing of the lower level of, siding, barrier free auto-opener, lower level walls, doors, electrical, ceiling and carpet; Approved road projects for Dexter Townhall Road, Second Ave, Portage Ave at McGregor and 3 applications of Kaiser Well Brine; Approved Resolution 18-514 to appropriate funds to Chelsea Senior Center; Approved Resolution 18-515 to appropriate funds to Dexter Seniors Center; Approved Resolution 18-516 to appropriate funds to Washtenaw Area Value Express; Approved Resolution 18-517 to adopt ballot proposal language for a 5 year renewal of the Police Services Millage to be placed on the August 7, 2018 ballot; Approved Resolution 18-518 to adopt ballot proposal language for a 5 year increase of the Fire Services Millage to be placed on the August 7, 2018 ballot; Approved May 1, 2018 and May 8, 2018 at 9 am for Special Board Meeting to discuss the Draft Zoning Ordinance and Draft changes to the Zoning Map.

Board also authorized payment of: General Fund bills totaling $40,644.57, Fire Fund bills totaling $60,883.70, Police Fund bills totaling $40,162.50, Agency Funds bills totaling $3,809.26, MLWSA Debt Service Fund bills totaling $350,153.13 and gross monthly payroll of $24,833.55.
