Plan to attend the Harvest Moon “Bonfire, Band, Brews and Chews” sponsored by the Friends of Grass Lake Township.

Held on Saturday, October 13, from 4:00pm-10:30pm, at the Eyry of the Eagle Farm, (1916 Norvell Rd, Grass Lake, MI), this family friendly fall festival has tons of fun activities planned.

The gate opens at 4:00pm. The first 100 children will receive a pumpkin, which they can decorate and take home with them.

Children Activities will be held from 4-6pm. Kids will be able to play games, complete crafts, have their face painted, visit with the llamas and chickens, go on a wagon tour of the farm, and participate in a scavenger hunt at the “Enchanted & only slightly haunted forest.”

At 5pm the American Warriors Academy from Chelsea, MI, will perform a self-defense martial art demonstration.

5-6pm – “Meet & Greet” our neighbors, fellow “Friends”, local and state government officials as well as the candidates running for office. “We have sent out many invitations to our ‘Meet and Greet’ segment, and we have received positive responses. This is a great way to have your concerns heard in an informal, relaxed setting,” states Bobbi Harper, “Friends” Environmental Committee Chair.

At 6pm, keeping with the “Bonfire” theme, guests will enjoy picnic fixin’s which include hot dogs with chili, coleslaw, baked beans, chips, and  of course… dessert.

From 7pm -9pm guests will enjoy a musical performance by Harper and Midwest Kind. “We are very fortunate to present a live performance locally from this nationally & internationally award winning musician and Grass Lake resident,  Peter D. Harper.  “In addition to Peter’s talent, his mastery of the didgeridoo and his creative use of the harmonica makes his unique musical style sought after world-wide,” says Sue Stewart, Bonfire Chairperson, Friends of Grass Lake Township.

Although the bonfire is scheduled from 9-10:30pm, weather permitting, since Harper & Midwest Kind will be performing by the bonfire under a tent donated by Mobile Tent & Party Supplies, we expect that the fire will start a bit earlier. Guests should plan to bring their own lawnchair.

Also planned during the band’s intermission is a fire and belly dance performance.

In addition to the children’s activities, awesome tunes and good food, there will a huge selection of silent auction items and a free door prize drawing.

Admission is $20 / Adult (advance) or $25 at the door and $5 / Children 12 and under along with a non-perishable food item.  It’s ok to BYOB-Bring Your Own Beverage.

The food collected will be donated to the Grass Lake United Methodist Church’s food pantry. Proceeds benefit Friends of Grass Lake Township, a non-profit organization comprised of a group of concerned citizens and taxpayers of Grass Lake Charter Township. Our mission is to preserve the quality of life that makes Grass Lake safe, beautiful and “A great place to call home.”
