Bulldogs Split Pair of SEC White Contests

The Chelsea boys basketball team ran into a buzzsaw Friday night as SEC White leading Ypsilanti rolled past the Bulldogs 62-37 January 11.

The Grizzlies took command from the start, outscoring Chelsea 20-8 in the first quarter.

Ypsi added 19 more in the second as its lead grew to 39-19 at the break.

The Bulldogs held the Grizzlies to just four points in the third, but they could only cut the lead to 43-27 after three.

The Grizzlies put the game way in the fourth with a 19-10 run.

Hunter Neff led the Bulldogs with a team high 16 points, while Quinn Starkey added nine. Adam Hauser finished with four points, Ryan Stofflet and Owen Brown three, and Hunter Lay two.

Earlier in the week the Bulldogs routed Adrian 57-40.

Chelsea dominated the first half taking a 31-12 lead into the break. A 19-7 run in the third gave the Bulldogs a 50-19 lead an they cruised to the win.

Lay led the Bullodogs with 13 points, followed by Starkey with 12. Hauser added eight points, Neff seven Brown five, Nick Cristian four, Gaving Bell three, and Jordan Fansler two.

The Bulldogs travel to Ypsilanti Lincoln Tueday night for their first look at freshman pheno Emoni Bates and the Splitters. They then travel to rival Dexter Friday night at 7:00 PM.
