The Chelsea baseball team opened SEC White play with an impressive three-game sweep of Adrian last week.
The Bulldogs hosted the Maples for a doubleheader Wednesday and took the pair of games 5-1 and 10-0.
The opener was scoreless until the fifth when the Bulldogs broke through for four runs. Kyle Knight opened the inning with a single, a Maple error and a Thomas Steele sac fly gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Carson Robinson doubled in a run to make it 2-0 and he and Hunter Lay scored on a two-run single by Gavin Bell for a 4-0 lead.
Knight drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth that plated Garrett Steele for a 5-0 lead.
The Maples got one back in the seventh but would score no more as the Bulldogs took the win.
Grant Barrett struck out 11, walked none, and allowed just four hits in six-inning of work for the win on the mound.
Bell led the offense with two hits and two RBI, while Robinson added two hits, an RBI, and a run scored. Knight added a hit, RBI, and run scored, while Ryan Bost had the Bulldogs other hit.
Nick Christian was nearly unhittable in the nightcap, allowing just one hit and striking out four for the complete game win.
Barrett led the offense with three hits and three RBI, while Robinson had two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Aaron McDaniels, Hunter Neff, and Thomas Steele collected two hits each, while Lay had a hit and two RBI, and Bost a hit and RBI.
The Bulldogs scored ten runs in the third and six in the fourth as they rolled to the 17-3 win to finish the three-game sweep Thursday.
Robinson picked up the win on the mound, striking out five, walking one, and allowing four hits in five innings of work. He also led the offense by pounding out four hits at the plate.
The Bulldogs pounded out 21 hits for the game.
Knight and Thomas Steele each had two hits and three RBI, while Bost and Hunter Neff each had a pair of hits and two RBI. Lay had two hits and one RBI, Christian two hits, Quinn Starkey a hit and two RBI, McDaniels a hit and RBI, Blake Engler and Parker Shaw one hit each.
The Bulldogs took on the Division 1 State runner-up Northville in a single game Friday and dropped a 6-0 decision to a very strong team.
Chelsea could muster just one hit in the contest and that was by Barrett.
Northville scored all they would need with one in the third and three in the fourth.
Chelsea is 4-1 overall on the season and 3-0 in SEC White.
