While it was a longshot for a three-peat the Chelsea boys’ cross country team came away with an impressive fourth place finish at the D2 State Finals at MIS Saturday, November 2.

The Bulldogs entered the Finals ranked 3rd in D2, which in normal times would make them a contender for the title. This year was not a normal time.

The top two teams in the Division in 2019 were powerhouses in top-ranked Fremont and second ranked Otsego.

Fremont was considered one of the top teams in all divisions and it showed as they placed four runners in the top 20 on its way to the title with 68 points.

Otsego had been ranked number two all season and finished there at the finals with 168 points.

Haslett slipped in to the third spot with 191 points and the Bulldogs finished fourth with 215.

Joseph Norwood placed 26th with a time of 16:28.4 and earned D2 All State Honors to pace the Bulldogs.
