The Chelsea boys’ cross country team made it three straight Regional titles in cold and wet conditions Saturday, easily outdistancing the competition on their way to qualifying for the Division 2 state finals November 3.
While the three-peat at the Regional at Lake Erie Metropark is nice, the Bulldogs have their sites set on a bigger repeat this week as they look for their second straight state championship.
They will run in the Division 2 race at 1:30 PM Saturday at MIS. It is the 17th straight year the Bulldogs have qualified for the state finals
At the Regional, all seven Bulldogs runners earned All-Regional honors by finishing in the top 14 spots.
Chelsea finished with 36 points, outdistancing second place Divine Child with 81.
Foster Thorburn led the Bulldogs with a fourth-place finish in 16:16, closely followed by Carson Rabbitt in fifth wit ha time of 16:28.
Will Scott was 6th in 16:34 and joseph Norwood 10th in 17:12. Zander Hartsuff finished 11th in 17:14, Owen Smith 13th in 17:15, and Erik Reiber 14th in 17:16.
“I am most pleased with the way we won as a team,” Coach Eric Swager said. “We moved up and used our strength and toughness that we have earned by countless miles of training.”
