Chelsea Boys’ Track Fifth, Girls 26th at State Finals

The Chelsea boys’ track team had a strong showing at the Division 2 state finals Saturday with a fifth-place finish. The girls finished 26th and had some good finishes to earn All-State honors.

The boys finished with 26 points, to finish fifth out of 60 school, while the girls earned 8 points to place 26th out of 55 teams.

The 4×800 relay team led the Bulldogs by bringing home the state title. The team consisted of Connor Gilbreath, Jensen Holm, Carson Rabbitt, and Tom Oates.

Oates also earned runner-up finished in the 800 and 1600.

Rabbitt just missed all-state honors, finishing ninth in 1600 with a PR time. Holm was 11th in the 3200 and James Mid 15th in the discus.

The girls were led by the All-State 5th place finishes of Jenna Gileczek in the pole vault and the 4×400 relay team of Kaehla Manly, Sydney Matusik, Riley Thorburn, and Myranda Montoye.

Manly just missed all-state with a ninth-place finish in the 300 hurdles. Sabrina Matusko had a PR in the pole vault and finished 19th.  Matusik was 13th and Montoye 20th in the 400, while Allison Hause was 18th in 1600.
