Chelsea Boys’ Track Wins SEC White Finals, Girls Third

After struggling in the dual meet season, the Chelsea boys’ track team had one of its strongest showings, winning the SEC White Finals at Siena Heights University Friday.

With the win, the Bulldogs finished second overall in the final standings behind league champion Pinckney.

The Bulldogs finished with 139 points, topping second-place Pinckney with 115.5.

Tom Oates led the Bulldogs with four first-place finishes. He won the 800, 1600, 3200 and was part of the winning 4×800 relay team along with Jensen Holm, Connor Gilbreath, and Carson Rabbit.

Holm earned second place finishes in the 1600 and 3200, while Ronnie Buford was second in the shot put and high jump.

Third place finishes and All-League honors went to Hunter White in the 100, 200, and 400. James Mida was third in the discus.

The girls finished third with a score of 105. Dexter won the meet with 147 and Pinckney was second with 115.

The 4×400 relay team of Kaehla Manly, Sydney Matusik, Riley Thorburn, and Myranda Montoye were the Bulldogs lone league champion.

Second place finishes went to Jordan Holton in the discus and shot put, the 4×200 relay team of Matusik, Hailey Neal, Montoye, and Manly; the 4×800 relay team of Thorburn, Allison Hause, Emily Chizek, and Jacqueline Taylor, manly in the 300 hurdles, Hause the 3200, and Matusik the 400.

Holton finished third in the shot put.
