The Chelsea equestrian team had a strong showing at the first district competition of the season at the Mason Fair Grounds Saturday, coming home with a third-place finish.

The third-place finish has the Bulldogs focusing on a regional bid. The top two teams in the district will move on to the regional.

The Bulldogs competed in 14 events and picked up wins in two of them.


Gabrielle Bowles won the Flag Race and Rheana Grudzinksi won the Keyhole.

Equitation over Fences – 2nd Talena Roberson, 3rd Gabrielle Bowles

Western Showmanship – Honorable Mention Talena Roberson

Hunt Seat Showmanship – 7th Erin Frank, 8th Rachel Geer, Honorable Mention Gabrielle Bowles

Saddle Seat Showmanship – 5th Rachel Geer

Saddle Seat Bareback – 2nd Rheana Grudzinksi

Hunt Seat Equitation – 4th Rheana Grudzinski, 6th Erin Frank, 8th Kailyn Mcguire, Honorable Mention Trevor Tighe

Hunt Seat Bareback – 3rd Erin Frank

Western Equitation – 6th Rheana Grudzinksi, Honorable Mention Rachel Geer

Reining – 7th Rheana Grudzinksi

Trail – 3rd Talena Roberson, 5th Erin Frank, 6th Trevor Tighe

Cloverleaf – 3rd Talena Roberson, 5th Gabrielle Bowles, 6th Erin Frank

Keyhole – 3rd Talena Roberson, 4th Gabrielle Bowles, 7th Erin Frank

The Bulldogs have two more chances to move into the top two spots. The first being this weekend in the second round of districts.
