After a slow start to the season, the season the Chelsea field hockey team appears to be turning things around after picking up its first win of the season last week.
The Bulldogs first win came at the hands of Mercy with a 2-0 decision. They then dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Detroit Country Day and battled to a 0-0 draw with Hartland.
Maddie Vogel put the Bulldogs on top in the first half when she broke in on goal and slapped it past the Mercy goaltender for a 1-0 lead.
It would stay that way until the second half when Nina Faupel took a crossing pass from Grace Lane and drilled it home for the 2-0 final. Payton Doan earned the shutout in net for Chelsea.
They have a couple of tough rivalry games next week when they travel to Saline on Monday and to Dexter on Thursday.
The Bulldogs record stands at 1-4-1 overall.
