The Chelsea girls’ basketball team used a big first half to cruise to a 62-25 win over Adrian last week.
The Bulldogs jumped to a 31-10 lead at the break and never looked back. Abby Fullerton led the team with 12 points, while Jenna Fosdick chipped in with 11. Katelyn McKinley added nine, Riley Davis seven, Maddie Vasquez and Anna Regis six each, Caitlyn Dusenbery five, Brianna Hay, Jordan Holton, and Kyle Bragg two each.
The Bulldogs dropped a hard fought 38-34 decision to Ann Arbor Huron in a battle between two state ranked teams.
Chelsea controlled the first half, taking a 22-12 halftime lead, but Huron fought back and cut the lead to 26-25 after three with a 13-4 run in the third.
They outscored the Bulldogs 13-8 in the final period to pull out the win.
Hay led the Bulldogs with 11 points, with Vasquez adding 10. McKinley and Regis scored five each, Fosdick two, and Fullerton one.
Chelsea also dropped a tough 51-41 decision to Okemos.
They fell behind 24-15 at the break and could not overcome the nine point deficit.
Davis led the Bulldogs with nine points, while Vasquez scored eight. Fullerton added seven, Regis six, Hay and McKinley four each, and Madeleine Kennedy three.
