The Chelsea girls’ cross country team came home with a sixth-place finish at the Division 2 Regional at Lake Erie Metropark Saturday.
The Bulldogs, along with all the runners, battled wet and cold conditions at the race.
“We ran a good race in really bad conditions,” Coach Pat Clarke said.
Sophomore Riley Thorburn led the way in 20th place at 20:47.
She was followed by Senior Captain Allison Hughes in 21st place (20:48) and Junior Morgan Kurth in 22nd place (20:49). Junior Emily Chizek finished 44th place (22:01) and Sophomore Sarah Kennings, in her first varsity race, finished 47th (22:12) to round out the scoring.
“This group of girls has worked very hard all season. They have banded together to become a good team,” Clarke said. “They have had ups and downs throughout the season, but they continue to improve and believe in themselves. I am extremely proud of these girls and their efforts.”
