To say it was a heartbreaker might be an understatement when the Chelsea girls’ soccer team fell to Pinckney Wednesday night.
The loss not only cost the Bulldogs the SEC White title, but it is the fashion of how the game ended.
Chelsea needed a win or a tie to clinch at least a share of the title and the game was scoreless for the first 79 minutes of the game and it looked like the Bulldogs would earn at least a tie to share the title with Adrian.
In the final minute Pinckney broke the Bulldogs hearts by scoring a goal in the final moments to take a 1-0 lead and the final seconds ran out as the Bulldogs title hopes were shattered by the Pirates and gave Adrian the league title.
The Bulldogs set up the title chance by cruising to an 8-1 win over Jackson Monday.
Emma Ruszkiewicz had a huge game with three first half goals, while Grace Ratliff had one to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Chelsea put things away in the second half with goals by Ratliff with her second of the game, Sasha French, Kate McKenzie, and Christina Roberts.
The Bulldogs finished 8-2 in the White and 10-5 overall.
