While overcoming SEC White champion Dexter’s depth was a longshot, the Chelsea girls’ swim and dive team had another goal to shoot for as the Bulldogs wanted to finish in second place in the final White standings.
A strong overall team effort helped the Bulldogs finish second at the finals at Dexter and overtook Tecumseh and Jackson in the final standings to finish second overall.
Dexter finished with 520 points, but the Bulldogs came up big and finished second with 329 points, beating out Tecumseh with 242.
The Bulldogs came home with three league champions on the day.
Alexis Nelson won the title in the 50 free with a D1 state qualifying time of 24.88.
Bella Turner claimed the 100 free title with a D1 qualifying time as well in 54.25 and Abby Robbins claimed the 100-breast title with a D2 time of 1:08.93.
The 200 free relay team of Nelson, Olivia Prodin, Olivia Olk, and Turner finished second for Chelsea.
Third place finishes went to the 200-medley team of Kauri Fields, Robbins, Olk, and Mrogan DeYoe; Turner in the 200 free, and the 400 free relay team of Nelson, Katie Leissner, Prodin, and Turner.
Melina Almhiemid in diving and Leissner 500 free earned fourth place finishes.
Chelsea will enter the D3 State Finals at Oakland University November 22-23 ranked 9th in the state.
The Finals will kick off at 10:00 AM each day.
