The Chelsea girls’ swim and dive team entered 2019 with a high state ranking coming into the week ranked fourth in Division 3 and the Bulldogs are showing why in the early season.
Chelsea competed in the DeWitt Invitational against much larger schools and came home with the top spot as they won the Invitational.
The Bulldogs won six of the events and finished with 374 points, beating out second place Grand Rapids Northview with 361.
Chelsea dominated the team events, by winning all three of the relays.
The 200 medley relay team of Kauri Fields, Abby Robbins, Olivia Olk, and Olivia Prodin opened things off with a first place finish.
Bella Turner, Robbins, Prodin, and Alexis Nelson then won the 200 free relay, while Turner, Prodin, Olk, and Nelson won the 400 free relay to clinch the Invitational win.
Other first place finishes Turner in the 50 free, while Nelson won the 100 free, and Robbins the 100 breast.
Nelson finished second in the 200 free.
Third place finishes went to Melina Almhiemid in diving, Olk in the 100 fly, and Prodin the 100 free.
