Chelsea Girls’ Track and Field Finishes Just Short of SEC Title

The Chelsea girls’ track and field team came up just short in its bid for an SEC White title when Pinckney clipped the Bulldogs by just five points at the league championship meet in a rainy night at Pinckney Thursday.

The Bulldogs had 17 events earn All-SEC honors, but it wasn’t enough with the Pirates coming out on top 191.5-186.5 in the meet that was dominated by the top two teams. The teams combined for 73% of the points accumulated at the meet.

All League Honors: Top 3 Individually & 1st place in relays

  • Carley Grabarczyk had an outstanding day! Carley won the 100m

dash, 200m dash, and anchored the winning 4x100m relay. Carley

had a personal record (PR) in the 100m dash with a time of 12.58

seconds, while also having a PR in the 200m dash with a time of

26.09 seconds. Carley now has the 5th fastest 100m dash time in

school history and the 4th fastest 200m dash in school history.

  • Anna Brant had a great day too in the wet cool conditions. Anna

placed 1st in the shot put throw (36’ 3.5”) and the discus throw (92’

8”). Anna is ranked 1st in shot put and 4th in discus throw.

  • Karlie Van Remortel placed 2nd in the pole vault (9’ 3”) handling the

wet conditions in the event like a veteran. She is ranked 1st in the

Region in this event.

  • Madeline Collins and India Barney long jumped well, placing 2nd and

3rd, respectively. Madeline had a season best (SB) with a jump of

14’ 9” and India had PR with a distance of 14’ 8.5”. Madeline is now

ranked 7th in the Region with this distance.

  • The 4x800m relay composed of Natalia DeMea, Madison Morgan,

Slater Boos, and Sam Bieber placed 1st with a time of 10:34.58. The

3rd fastest time of the season. This relay is ranked 1st in the Region.

  • Lelia Wells placed 1st in the 100m hurdles (15.97) and 2nd in the

300m hurdles (48.93). Her 300m hurdle time from the Championship

meet is #1 in the Region.

  • Aleeah Wells had strong races as many did on the team. She placed

2nd in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.84 (a PR). Her time in this

event places her 2nd in the Region.

  • Teagan Hill placed 3rd in the 100m dash with a 13.15, which is near

her PR. She ranked 6th in the Region in this event.

  • The 4x100m relay composed of India Barney, Aleeah Wells, Teagan

Hill, and Carley Grabarczyk placed 1st overall with a time of 51.59.

This relay is ranked 2nd in the Region.

  • Addie Howard placed 3rd overall in 400m dash with a time of 62.27.

She is now ranked 3rd in the Region with this time.

  • Ceci Bayer in the 800m run placed 1st with a time of 2:29.12. She

made a gutsy move on the backstretch on the 2nd lap, which the

competition was unable to respond to. Also, Ceci made Chelsea’s

Top Ten List in the 1600m run with a time of 5:25.12.

  • Sam Bieber placed 3rd in the 800m run with a time of 2:33.44 (a PR).

She is ranked 6th in the Region. She continues to balance tennis and

track at a high level of performance.

  • Natalia DeMea placed 3rd in the 3200m run with a 11:47.86, which

was close to her SB. Currently, Natalia is ranked 3rd in the Region in

this event.

 

The Bulldogs will host the D2 Regional Friday.
