The Chelsea hockey team appears to be getting hot at the right time as the Bulldogs picked up three big wins heading into this week’s Michigan Public Hockey Showcase at the Arctic Coliseum.
The Bulldogs opened the week with an impressive 6-3 win over Woodhaven. Chelsea dominated early with first period goals by Brad Sullivan, Brennan Wright, and Gabe Vowels.
Christopher Gingell and Braden Steele scored second period goals to make it 5-0 and Wes Sullivan scored early in the third to make it 6-0. Woodhaven would make it a game with three third period goals, but the Bulldogs held them off for the win.
Gingell and W. Sullivan each picked up two assists along with their goals. Nicklas Holmberg, Nolan Law, B.Steele, Vowels, B. Sullivan, and Wright recorded one assist each.
Aidan Boote made 30 saves in net for the Bulldogs.
Chelsea then took down rival Jackson Lumen Christi 6-2. They once again took control early with first period goals by Thomas Steele and Vowles.
B.Steele made it 3-0 early in the second before Lumen got one back. Wright and B. Sullivan scored late second period goals to make it 5-1 after two. B.Steele added his second of the game to finish the scoring for the Bulldogs.
Holmberg picked up three goals, while Wright added two. B. Steele, T. Steele, and Vowles each collected one assist.
Boote made 14 saves in net.
Chelsea then took down Bedford 9-2 Saturday. Unlike the two games earlier in the week, Bedford battled from the start and held the lead twice in the first period.
Steele had a huge game with five goals to lead the Bulldogs. B. Sullivan added two goals, while W. Sullivan and Nathan Jozwiak had one goal each.
Sullivan picked up four assists, while Wright, Holmberg, and B. Steele each had two assists. Law, Cooper Mattson, T. Steele, Wes Hanson, and Joe McFate each had one assist.
