Chelsea Police Weekly Report, 5-21-24

Incident #: 24-1591 Location: 400 block of N Main Street
Date: May 19, 2024 Time: 9:15 pm
INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, officers responded to the 400 block of N. Main Street for the report of an assault and battery complaint. Upon arrival, the officers met with the complainant, who stated that the suspect, identified as a 27-year-old Jackson man, had come onto the property and was visibly under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. The complainant stated that the suspect had become upset over a domestic relationship issue with an employee and had been escorted off of the premises. The complainant stated that she had been outside trying to calm the suspect down. The suspect reportedly began to throw landscaping rocks at her and then ran towards the complainant, headbutting her in the
stomach. The suspect was no longer on the scene upon the officer’s arrival, and the complainant stated that at the time of the report, she did not wish to press criminal charges.

Incident #: 24-1533 Location: 600 block of Taylor Street
Date: May 13, 2024 Time: 4:06 pm
INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, an officer was dispatched to the Chelsea Police Department lobby for a walk-in complaint regarding an attempted fraud. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the complainant, who stated that she had received an email stating that she had purchased a new iPhone and that her PayPal account had been charged, and if it
was an error to contact the provided telephone number. The complainant stated that she called the number and had been directed to withdraw a large amount of money and mail the money using UPS. The complainant stated that she had gone to her financial institution to withdraw the money, and they cautioned her and told her that she was possibly being scammed. At the time of the report, there was no information available on the identity of the suspect, and the case was closed.
