Chelsea School’s Announce the Departure of High School Principal Nick Angel

The Chelsea School District is saying goodbye to one of its important leaders as high school Principal Nick Angel is taking on a new opportunity in Grass Lake.

CSD announced the news on June 17:

“The Chelsea School District (CSD) announces, with both pride and a hint of nostalgia, the departure of Chelsea High School Principal Dr. Nicholas Angel, who has served our school community with unwavering dedication for 16 remarkable years. Nick’s selection by the Grass Lake Community Schools Board of Education as their next superintendent is a testament to his tireless commitment and exemplary service to the CSD and public education.”

Previously serving as principal at Chelsea’s Beach Middle School, Angel’s departure is a significant change and starts a transition phase for the district in which they will look for a new building leader for CHS. Angel took over at the high school after current CSD Superintendent Michael Kapolka left CHS to be an assistant superintendent for Wayne Westland Community Schools.

“Throughout his tenure, Nick has been an inspirational figure, always placing the needs of our students and staff at the forefront of his efforts,” CSD said in its announcement. “His leadership has left an indelible mark on our school community, and his departure will be felt deeply by many who have had the privilege of working alongside him. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for his invaluable contributions and eagerly anticipate his continued success with the Grass Lake Community Schools. Nick’s intense advocacy for students and his boundless energy will undoubtedly enrich his new community, just as it has ours.”

In light of this transition, CSD said it is now embarking “on a significant and reflective journey to find a new leader for Chelsea High School (CHS).”

The district said, “It has been 35 years since we last posted this position, a testament to the enduring stability and excellence that defines CHS. We are committed to a thorough and inclusive search process to ensure we identify a candidate who will uphold and further the high standards our community has come to expect.”
