The Chelsea soccer team dropped into a second-place tie in the SEC White after falling to rival Dexter 3-1 last week.

The Bulldogs dropped to 2-1-1 in the White along with Dexter, trailing Tecumseh with a 3-0-1 record.

Dexter took an early lead with a goal just 1:49 in to the game.

The Dreadnaughts carried almost all the action with seven corner kicks in the first half, but Bulldog goaltender Connor McKenzie was unbelievable in net making several big saves to keep Chelsea in it.

The Bulldogs capitalized on a rare scoring chance when Nathan Quintana broke free down the right side and sent a centering pass to an open Jacob Schultz who drove it into the net to tie the score at 1-1.

It stayed that way until the second half when Dexter broke through. A crossing pass from the right side got by McKenzie as he was shielded by a Dexter forward and it rolled right in front of the net where it was tipped in.

Dexter would add to the lead a few minutes later making it 3-1.

Chelsea picked up the pressure late, including a couple of point-blank chances in the final minute, but could not find the net.

The Bulldogs defeated Adrian 3-0 earlier in the week. Stats were not available.
