After winning the de facto district title with a hard-fought win over Pinckney Wednesday night, the Chelsea softball team left no doubts that the two teams were the best teams in the district after a pair of routs Saturday to clinch the Bulldogs fifth straight D2 district title.
The Bulldogs made quick work of Livonia Clarenceville in the opener with a 16-0 three inning win.
Kylie Beckel doubled in two and Kaydee Absher singled in the run to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead over Clarenceville and that is all they would need.
Chelsea would pour it on with 13 runs in the second inning.
The big blows were two-run homers by Jenna Ouellette and Ella Root in the inning.
Tori Parisho and Charlotte Diesing combined for a three-inning perfect game for Chelsea. Parisho struck out all six batters she faced, and Diesing stuck out one.
Ouellette led the offense with three hits and four RBI, while Root had three hits and three RBI.
Beckel finished with two hits and three RBI, Absher two hits and two RBI, Lay, Diesing and Dani Wahl two hits and one RBI each, and Samantha Dard two hits and two runs scored.
The championship game was much the same as the Bulldogs crushed Ann Arbor Gabirel Richard 14-0.
FGR reached the finals after Redford Union withdrew from the tournament.
Chelsea started quickly once again with a run scoring double by Absher and a two-run single by Piper Diesing for a 3-0 lead.
Ouellette led off the second with a homerun and the Bulldogs would add nine more runs in the inning with the help of five walks and a hit batter by Irish pitching.
The Bulldogs added one more run in the fourth to make the final 14-0 and the team celebrated the district title.
Parisho struck out 10 and allowed one hit, while Charlotte Diesing struck out one in one inning of work in the circle.
Absher went 3-3 with three RBI to lead the hitting attack.
Piper Diesing had two hits and four RBI, while Ouellette and Dark had had one hit and two RBI, and Lay had a hit and two runs scored.
Chelsea improved to 24-10 overall on the season. They will take part in the D2 Regional at Fowlerville where they will face DeWitt (13-18) in the semifinals at noon. The other semifinal will feature Mason (17-15) and Milan (24-8) and the winners will meet at 2:00 PM.
