The Chelsea bats were booming in an SEC crossover matchup with Saline Friday as the Bulldogs cranked three home runs en route to a 14-3 win over the Hornets.
Saline took the lead in the first with an unearned run, but the Bulldogs answered with four of their own on RBI singles by Peighton Root and Grace Bush, and a two-run single by Caroline Hirth.
The Bulldogs added three more in the second on a two-run shot by Alise Hale that hit the left-field foul pole and a run-scoring bunt single by Hayley Townend for a 7-1 lead after two.
They added four more in the third on a two-run single by Maddie Vasquez and then Sydney Hines ripped a line drive that cleared the left field fence for a two-run homer and an 11-1 lead.
Saline got one back in the fourth on an RBI groundout by Makenzie Marion to make it 11-2 after four.
Elaina Walker ripped an RBI single in the sixth for Saline to make it 11-3, but Hale ended it with a three-run shot in the bottom of the sixth for the 14-3 win for the Bulldogs.
Hale finished with three hits and five RBI including the two home runs to lead Chelsea. Sydnee Liedel had three hits and three runs scored, while Hines had two hits and two RBI including her home run. Root had two hits and an RBI, Hirth, and Vasquez a hit and two RBI each, Grace Bush and Townsend a hit and RBI, Stephanie Dark and Hannah Kahler a hit each. Townsend was the winning pitcher allowing six hits and striking out one.
Brooke Bauer led Saline with two hits and a run scored, while Walker had a hit and RBI. Maddie Shelton and Lindsy Rittenhouse also had hit for the Hornets.
