Chelsea Swim and Dive Has Big Day at D3 State Prelims

The Chelsea girls’ swim and dive team had a big day at the Division 3 state championship preliminaries in Holland Friday as the Bulldogs qualified swimmers and divers for Saturday’s finals in nine of 12 events.

Lead by Angelia Daman’s second place qualifying in the diving, the Bulldogs advanced to the championship heat in seven events.



Abby Robbins led the swimmers with a 5th place qualifying time in the 100 breast and it was also a new school record for the Bulldogs.

Olivia Olk in the 200 IM and Bella Turner in the 100 free earned spots in the championship finals with 8th place qualifying times.

The Bulldogs relay teams had a big day as all three earned spots in the championship heats.

The 200 medley relay team of Kauri Fields, Robbins, Olk, and Olivia Prodin finished 5th; the 200 free relay of Alexis Nelson, Prodin, Robbins, and Turner was 8th; and the 400 free relay team of Nelson, Prodin, Olk, and Turner was 4th heading into Saturday.

Also qualifying for Saturday’s consolation finals and will be earning points for the Bulldogs were Turner 9th and Nelson 12th in the 50 free, and Olk 15th in the 100 butterfly.
