Chelsea Tennis Takes Down Dexter in Battle of SEC Unbeatens





The Chelsea girls’ tennis team continued to show its dominance in the SEC White as the Bulldogs took down Dexter 7-1 in a battle between the two conference unbeaten teams.

Chelsea took three of four singles matches with Kelsie Weinrich (1) 6-0, 6-4; Amanda Dosey (2) 6-1, 6-2; and Amelia Loveland (4) 6-0, 6-0 being victorious.

The Bulldogs doubles teams swept all four matches with Maddie Pedlow/Kyra Van Batavia (1) 6-1, 6-1; Madelynn O’Hara/Julia Schachinger (2) 6-3, 6-2; Madisen Chinavare/Gretchen Kuras (3) 6-3, 6-3; and Corrine Dale/Remy Sturt (4) 6-0, 6-0 all picking up wins.

Chelsea swept Pinckney earlier in the week 8-0.



Sierra Martinez-Kratz won at three singles 6-1, 6-0, while all the others from the Dexter match were victorious.

The Bulldogs went 2-0-1 at a home quad Saturday. The defeated Parma Western 7-1 and St Clair 5-3 and tied Jackson Lumen Christi 4-4 in a battle between state ranked teams.

Chelsea is ranked eighth in Division 3 and Lumen Christi ninth in Division 4 and the teams went toe-to-toe in their match.

Dosey (2) and Loveland won their singles matches, while O’Hara/Schachinger and Dale/Sturt won their doubles matches. The match the caused the tie was at three-doubles where Lumen Christi won in a third set tiebreaker 10-6 to make the match 4-4.

 Against Western, Rachel Bareis won a marathon three-set match at three-singles 6-3, 5-7 12-10 in a tiebreaker.

Chinavare/Kuras won the deciding match against St Clair at three-doubles winning a three set marathon 6-3, 0-6, 11-9 in a tiebreaker to give the Bulldogs the 5-3 win.
