On Sept. 17, Chelsea’s beloved Jeff Daniels brought home more hardware at this year’s Emmy Awards.

The Emmys recognize excellence in the television industry, and this year Daniels was up for two.

He was a nominee for the Outstanding Lead Action in a Limited Series or Movie, The Looming Tower, playing John O. Neill who was the FBI’s leading expert on Al Qaeda who had warned about the group’s threat to the United States before 9/11 occurred.

Daniels won an Emmy for an Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for the 2017 TV series Godless. Daniels played Frank Griffin, an outlaw who is hunting his former partner turned mortal enemy.

In his speech on Monday, Daniels dedicated his win to Apollo, his horse in Godless. Daniels joked that Apollo was making unfair comparison between him and Jeff Bridges, who used the same horse in True Grit. Daniels told the crowd that Apollo had thrown him off three times, even breaking his left wrist on the last fall.

During his speech, he noted, “Little tip for you young actors. When they call and say can you ride a horse, don’t lie,” said Daniels. “You will find out one day you’re in the Kentucky Derby.”
