The Chelsea School District has its next principal for South Meadows Elementary School.
With the retirement of Stacie Battaglia as principal of South Meadows Elementary, the CSD Board of Education approved the administration recommendation to hire Katie Spisich as the new principal.
Spisich is a familiar face and knows the school quite well already as she has been an instructional coach at South Meadows. Forty-seven applicants applied for the position of principal.
In his recommendation report to the superintendent and school board, Marcus Kaemming, Assistant Superintendent at CSD, said “Katie has been an integral part of our educational community, currently serving as an instructional coach right here at South Meadows. Her authentic relationships with students, staff, and parents, along with her deep understanding of our school’s culture and values, made Katie an excellent fit for the position.”
In addition, Kaemming said her depth of “experience and expertise in the areas of literacy, along with her commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment, align perfectly with our district’s core values.”
Spisich has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Western Michigan University and Masters in the Arts in Education from Ball State University.
