PLANNING COMMISSION

PUBLIC HEARING

Pursuant to Michigan Public Act 110 of 2006, as amended (the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act), notice is hereby given that the City of Dexter Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2016.  The public hearing will be held at the Dexter Senior Center, 7720 Ann Arbor Street, Dexter, Michigan,



The purpose of the public hearing is to consider the following text amendment to the City of Dexter Zoning Ordinance (text to be added in underlined; text to be deleted is struckout):

Amend Article III, Section 3.17, Fences, as follows:

Fences are permitted subject to the following regulations:

Permits

  1. A permit is required for The the erection, construction or alteration of any fence shall require a permit and shall be approved by the Zoning Administrator, in compliance with the provisions of this Ordinance.
  2. All applications for fence permits shall be submitted to the Zoning administrator and shall be accompanied by the fence design information and a certified boundary survey prepared by a professional land surveyor, registered in the State of Michigan. The survey shall showing the location of the proposed fence.
  3. Fences located within the front, side or rear yards may be erected directly on the property line, unless otherwise mentioned in this ordinance, with the submission of written consent from all adjacent property owners or and as demonstrated on a certified survey verifying the location of the property lines.

The fee for the fence permit shall be set by resolution of the City Council.

Copies of the proposed ordinance amendments are available for public inspection at the City Offices, 8123 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Dexter, MI 48130; weekdays between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Any questions regarding the proposed amendment should be directed to the Office of Community Development at 734-580-2233.

Interested parties are welcome to attend the public hearing and present their comments.  Written comments regarding the proposed amendments should be submitted to the Office of Community Development at the address listed above or via email to maniol@dextermi.gov, and must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

Sign language interpreter, or other assistance, is provided upon request to the City Manager cnicholls@dextermi.gov, at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting.  Minutes of all meetings are available on the City website, www.dextermi.gov.
