On Sunday, September 9, 2024 at approximately 7:30 pm a member of the public noticed sewer water releasing from a manhole lid onto the ground by the railroad track near Inverness St. City of Dexter staff responded to the call and identified the manhole lid, which stopped flowing later in the evening. Investigation found the sewer main to be plugged by a combination of fats and wipes, partially blocking flow and forcing sewer water out of the top of the structure. City staff had the material cleared through jetting upstream and downstream on Monday morning, September 10, 2024, clearing up the problem. No sewer water reached private property, the Huron River, nor Mill Creek.
