Date: February 28, 2026Time: 5:35 pm
INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, officers were dispatched to the area of the 900 block of S. Main Street for the report of a motorist who was driving in a hazardous manner. The officers arrived in the area and after a short search, the vehicle in question was located. The officer observed the vehicle make an abrupt turn and a wide right turn into a parking lot, where the officer initiated a traffic stop. The officer made contact with the driver and reported that the driver appeared visibly nervous and was “profusely sweating”. The officer reported that there was suspected marijuana visible and when the officer inquired whether there were any other alcohol or drugs in the vehicle, the driver turned over additional marijuana as well as an open container of alcohol that had been sitting on the passenger floorboard of the vehicle. The officer asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and perform some standard field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, the officer determined that there was enough probable cause to place the driver, identified as a 24-year-old Ypsilanti man, under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
