The Chelsea cross country teams participated in the first SEC Jamboree of the season and came home with some strong finishes.
The first SEC jamboree combines the Red and White Division teams and the squads earn a point for each team they finish ahead of in the meet.
Both teams were happy with their finishes as the boys finished fourth and the girl sixth overall in the races the featured several ranked D1 teams in both.
The boys finished with 102 points, behind D1 ranked teams Saline (52) Dexter (67), and Pinckney (83).
“We attempted to move up through the middle portion of the race, and we’re largely successful,” Coach Eric Swager said. “Finishing 4th against this strong field, and being the top Div 2 team is a fine showing.”
Joseph Norwood 12th in 16:58 and Will Scott 13th in 17:00 led the Bulldogs.
Zander Hartoff finished 16th in 17:12, followed by Erik Reiber in 17:24 in 22nd. Jonas Norwood was 41st in 18:11, Jimmy Alford 52nd in 18:28, and Caden Faupel rounded out the top seven in 59th in 18:37. Will Fredenberg was 70th in 18:56, Dominic Green 82nd in 19:13, and Robert Stump 109th in 20:42.

“ The course ran slow and it was very hot and humid,” Coach Pat Clarke said. “We made some great progress toward our goals. We learned a lot today about how to race in a quality field.”
