The Chelsea School District (CSD) and Chelsea Education Association (CEA), the teachers union in Chelsea, have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.

The last contract between the CEA and the CSD expired on Jun. 30. On Nov. 1, representatives from the CSD and the CEA told The Sun Times that a tentative agreement was in place, pending the CEA taking it to their members.

The CEA will be holding a ratification vote on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. in the Superintendents conference room, releasing a press release after the scheduled event.

After a board meeting on Oct. 22, CEA President Rick Catherman described the meeting as “quiet.” Catherman told The Sun-Times that there was another face to face meeting around that time and more negotiations were scheduled for Oct. 30.

The CEA had attended the prior two meetings with many members of the CEA attending and speaking about contract negotiations during public comment.
