There is no doubt that finally being free from pain and discomfort, Dale H. Goodwin of Chelsea, MI danced her way through open pearly gates on September 24, 2018. Born in Loris, South Carolina on September 5, 1940 as the first child for Joe Dale Hughes and Ruby Lee, Dale is survived by one sister, Cynthia (William) Hartwell, children Michelle and Michael and their partners, and several dear nieces and nephews.
She was greeted in heaven by her husband Mike Goodwin, her sister Celia, grandparents, and other family and friends.
Although she moved north to Michigan in the 1950’s, Dale never strayed far from her southern roots – you could, if you listened carefully, hear it in her voice, see it in her smile, and notice it in the way she insisted on being fashionably dressed and always presentable.
She loved flowers, shoes, the color purple, and anything made of chocolate. Over the years, Dale and her husband owned and ran several businesses including Mike’s Deli in Chelsea that they created from the ground up. Before opening Mike’s Deli, Dale was the office manager and event planner for Diamond Quest where she organized meetings attended by up to a thousand people at a time.
Please join Dale’s family and friends for a celebration and recognition of her life on Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea, MI.
Friends may visit with the family between 5 and 7pm. Refreshments will be served. A memorial service will follow at 7pm. Cremation has taken place per her wishes.
Dale will be laid to rest in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at a private ceremony in the spring. The family wishes to thank the residents at the Pines Apartments for their friendships with Dale and the staff at WellBridge in Pinckney for their care over the past three months.
Those wishing to make a contribution in Dale’s honor can do so to any branch of the Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
