Two big innings are all it took for the Dexter baseball team to pick up a doubleheader sweep of Ypsilanti Monday.
The Dreadnaughts scored 19 runs in the second inning of the opener and rolled to a 21-0 three-inning win.
Dexter went through the line-up nearly three times in the 19 run second inning. The big blow of the inning was a grand slam by Drew Bielas.
Bielas finished with two hits and seven RBI in the game. Owen Huard had three hits and an RBI and Brady Rosen two hits and three RBI. Grant Stehley had two hits and an RBI, Hayden Walworth a hit and two RBI, and Alex Mills a hit and RBI. Rosen was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts in three innings.
The second game saw the Dreadnaughts score ten in the second as they cruised to a 12-2 win.
Dexter sent 14 batters to the plate in the second as they blew the game open. A three-run double by Reid Ladd was the big hit of the inning for the Dreads.
Nathaniel Fiegel led the offense with three hits and three runs scored. Jacob Haley and Hunter Christunas each had a hit and two RBI. Ladd had a hit and three RBI, while Kevin Devoogd had a hit and scored two runs. Owen Huard earned the win on the mound with five strikeouts.
