Dexter Baseball Season Ends in Heartbreaker

The Dexter baseball team saw its season end in the district quarterfinals, dropping a heartbreaking 3-2 decision to eventual champion Brighton Tuesday, May 29.

Brighton took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd, but the Dreadnaughts scored two runs in the third on a wild pitch and a Brighton error to make it 2-1.

A hit batter, stolen base, and single by the Bulldogs in the third tied the game at 2-2.

It stayed that way until the 6th when Brighton loaded the bases with only one hit and scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-2.

Dexter put a runner on in the sixth and seventh but could not advance them and saw its season end.

Drew Bielas had a big game with three hits to lead the offense. Grant Stehley, Ryan Schoch, and Drake Doyle each had one hit.

Schoch took the hard-luck loss, striking out 10 and allowing just four hits.
