Dexter Baseball Takes Three from Skyline

The Dexter baseball team improved to 21-8 overall and 13-5 in the SEC Red after three game sweep of Ann Arbor Skyline last week.

Conor Sweeny tossed a five-hit gem in the opener as the Dreadnaughts blanked Skyline 6-0. Sweeny struck out eight for the complete game win.

RBI singles by Chance Sobbry and Davis Bennett put Dexter on top 3-0 in the first.

The Dreads lead grew to 6-0 in the second with a two-run homer by Sobbry and a run scoring single by Cole Novara and that is all the Dreads would need behind the pitching of Sweeny.

Larry Salisbury led the offense with three hits and two RBI, while Sobbry had two hits with a home run and three RBI.

Garrett Sharp and Cooper Arnedt had two hits and a run scored each, Novara a hit and two RBI, and Bennett a hit and RBI.

Dexter fell behind 2-1 in the second game but scored two in the fourth and four in the seventh to pull away for an 8-2 win.

Sharp led the offense with three hits and an RBI.

Sobbry and Salisbury each had two hits and two RBI, Novara a hit and RBI, and Bennett a run scoring triple.

Mason McAllister earned the win on the mound, striking out four in four innings of work.

The Dreadnaughts used a big five run second inning to finish the sweep with a 9-3 win Wednesday.

Sharp had a big game at the plate with three hits and three RBI to lead the hitting attack.

Bennett had two hits and three RBI, while Arnedt had two hits and an RBI. Connor Robeson added two hits and two runs scored, Sobbry a hit and RBI, Jack Sayler, and Noah Pitts a hit and run scored each.

Cole Novara earned the win with two strikeouts for the Dreads.

Dexter split a doubleheader with South Lyon Saturday, falling 4-1 in the opener and winning the second 9-1.

Sobbry, Charlie Pomo, and Shawn White had the lone hits for Dexter.

The Dreads scored five runs in the sixth to pull away for the win in the second game.

Pitts and Noah Fernando each had a hit and RBI and Sobbry a hit and run scored.

Bennett had two hits and four RBI, while Sharp and Arnedt each had two hits and two runs scored.

Sayler struck out eight for the win on the mound.
