Dexter Boys’ Basketball Knocks Off State Ranked Ypsilanti

The hottest team in the SEC White came up with its biggest win of the season last week as Dexter knocked off state ranked Ypsilanti 55-47 Tuesday, January 23.

The Grizzlies came into the game ranked 6th in the latest AP poll, but the Dreadnaughts took control of the game in the second quarter.

Things were tied at 15 when the Dreadnaughts went on a 12-4 run to take a 27-19 lead into the half.

The Dreads lead grew to 10 in the half, but Ypsilanti fought back to cut the lead to 35-30 entering the final quarter.

Dexter opened the fourth on fire and used a 13-4 run to take a 48-33 lead.

Ypsilanti made one later run, but its wasn’t enough as the Dreadnaughts held on an moved into a first place tie in the SEC White.

The big difference in the game was from the line as Dexter hit 19 of 29 free throws to just four of 11 for the Grizzlies.

Drew Bishop led Dexter with 14 points, while Zach Condron and Caden Doll each scored 11 and Brady Rosen eight.

The Dreadnaughts used a big fourth quarter to pull away from Pinckney to defeat the Pirates 69-55 Friday night.

The Pirates have given the Dreadnaughts fits in their previous few matchups in districts and the first match-up as SEC White foes was no different.

Dexter took a 19-16 lead after one and outscored the Pirates 14-13 in the second for a 33-29 halftime lead.

Pinckney continued to hold things close in the third, outscoring the Dreads 12-11 to cut the lead to 44-41.

Dexter finally wore down the Pirates, outscoring them 25-14 to pull away for the win and remain n a first place tie in the SEC White.

Rosen had a big night with 22 points to lead Dexter. Bishop finished with 11 points, Marco Lucchesi nine points, Doll eight, and Condron six.
